The book was fresh in my mind but I tried not to expect. I don't want to get into the details of the film as others who have not viewed it yet may get spoiled. I have to say, I was just blown away. The pace was fast enough to keep me glued to the screen. They included important events and lines from the book that made me gush inside. As a reader and a fan, it is a big deal for me if the movie can still represent the book in its very essence. They made movie alterations that quite fit in the story line. I was with my father and cousin who never read the books and I think it was made easier for them to comprehend.
The movie has a prestigious line-up of actors and I have to applaud the trio-- Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. They have improved a lot on their acting (especially Emma). I have always loved the Harry Potter movie soundtracks and this one is no different. They never really showed much of Hogwarts in here, but the countryside sceneries they captured wowed me. The cinematography was splendid. Even that short Neil Gaiman-ish animation they introduced in this movie (those who have seen the movie know what I'm writing about) was fresh and vital. I badly wanted to see it in 3D. Some scenes reminded me of "The Lord of the Rings". Overall, a lot of effort and thought was placed in creating this last Harry Potter movie and I appreciate that.
Oh, there was actually one thing I expected though-- I would cry. And cried a lot, I did. Lack of sleep did not stop me from sniffling in the beginning, in-between and in the end. It felt like my heart would burst. I couldn't help it. I'm sure a lot of fans know exactly what I mean. July 2011 is still a few months from now. So, I think I would find a way to watch Part I again soon. =)
