Bent

If I fall along the way
Pick me up and dust me off
And if I get too tired to make it
Be my breath so I can walk

You Are 56% Bipolar

You're a bit moody, and at times, your moods can be a bit extreme.
It's up to you to decide if you're simply dramatic... or slightly bipolar.

If I need some other love
Give me more than I can stand
And when my smile gets old and faded
Wait around I'll smile again

Shouldn't be so complicated
Just hold me and then
Just hold me again

You May Be a Bit Borderline...

Your mood swings make a roller coaster look tame!
When you're up, you're a little bit crazy...
And when you're down, your whole world is crashing
Scary thing is, these moods can change by the minute!

Can you help me I'm bent
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get put back together

You're breaking me in
And this is how we will end
With you and me bent

You Are 36% Obsessive

You tend to have a few obsessive thoughts, but you generally have them under control.
Sometimes your worries keep you up at night, though they usually don't interfere with your life.

If I couldn't sleep could you sleep
Could you paint me better off
Could you sympathize with my needs
I know you think I need a lot

I started out clean but I'm jaded
Just phoning it in
Just breaking the skin

Your EQ is 140

50 or less: Thanks for answering honestly. Now get yourself a shrink, quick!
51-70: When it comes to understanding human emotions, you'd have better luck understanding Chinese.
71-90: You've got more emotional intelligence than the average frat boy. Barely.
91-110: You're average. It's easy to predict how you'll react to things. But anyone could have guessed that.
111-130: You usually have it going on emotionally, but roadblocks tend to land you on your butt.
131-150: You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.
150+: Two possibilities - you've either out "Dr. Phil-ed" Dr. Phil... or you're a dirty liar.

Can you help me I'm bent
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get put back together

You're breaking me in
And this is how we will end
With you and me bent

Change of Mind?

The past few days made me realize how fast events in my life trigger changes in my opinions. It's very important because it affects the decisions I make. It may be as small as losing my crush on some guy and finding another one attractive or changing my "dream phone" from a Nokia 6230i to a Nokia 6233 or as huge as being open to other job opportunities. It's a tough world out there.

I've been through stage one and did stage two last night. Last night was more difficult than I expected that I was ready to give up. I was cold and got wet in the rain and was awake for about 28 hours straight. I thought to myself this should be damn worth it. On Monday, it will be stage three, hopefully the last stage of this challenge. If it doesn't work out for me, fine. At least I was exposed to something new and I didn't just settle. If it works out for me, I hope this is gonna be it coz I honestly think I am too old to be unstable. If I only have the finances I would settle for a business rather than be an employee forever but that's easier said written than done. My sister and I have this crazy idea for a business venture but that will only remain as a crazy idea unless we act on it. We cannot act on it unless we win in the lottery or some game show and that would be impossible because we don't join game shows nor pay for lottery tickets.

Oh well, Monday is just a couple of days away. I'm still waiting. Hope my patience doesn't run out. Should I just settle for what I have? But then again, life is more fun with a lot of choices and opportunities around, isn't it?

P.S.
I don't know if it's just me giving meaning to things but I saw this on My Yahoo! Astrology page again:

CANCER:
Acceptance is a hard thing to master -- but you know you can be content with things.

This is creeping me out.

Me? Weird?

Tagged by kikaygal.

6 weird things about myself (I don't know if you can these weird...) :

1. I have my own version of a "security blanket". It's not really a blanket but a worn-out jogging pants from high school. I always feel the need to have it by my side.

2. After taking a bath, I have to dry my hair before I get out of the house. I get irritated if my hair is hanging limp and wet.

3. I am some kind of a neat freak. Maybe it's because of a bit of OC-ness in me. If something is not in the exact place where I last put it, I go berserk!

4. My mind wanders all the time. Some days I can't even remember how I get home because I just trust my instincts to take me where I needed to be. People may even catch me smiling or frowning to myself when I travel alone and I don't care.

5. There was this quiet dog who lives about a couple of blocks from our apartment. The first time I heard him bark was when a drunk man wanted to follow me when I was on my way to work at about 11PM. He scared the man away. Now, everytime I pass by and this dog would be asleep on the pavement, I whisper and pretend to talk to him as if he can hear me and I always hope that somehow,he can.

6. When I'm feeling down, angry or sad, I have the urge to write. Writing gives me an outlet for my emotions even if my thoughts are incoherent. When I'm bored at work, I even write down the lyrics of my LSS (Last Song Syndrome) for the day.

Wait, do I need to write only 6? Coz I have more weird things to share. Hahaha!

I tag anyone who wants to answer this. :)

Which way?

Just resting my blog for a while. Have nothing interesting to post. A few days ago, I posted this in my blog:

I've been feeling torn lately. I won't go into details because things are not final yet. But if I am given an offer I cannot refuse, I'm going to make a very hard decision and I pray to God I will make the right one.

Now, I'm waiting... hopefully not in vain. I hope my patience will last until that day when I have to decide if I stay or move on. I know there will be a lot of sacrifices (sniff!) and adjustments but life's like that. It's the waiting that sucks though.

Interesting that when I checked this out, my monthly career horoscope states:

Your career could move in a very interesting, and perhaps unexpected, direction on the 22nd, 23rd or 24th. By the 27th or 28th, you're feeling freer than a bird at work. Hey, that's what you wanted, isn't it?

I'm not much of a believer but I do hope I get what I want and be happy with results. Wish me luck! :)

Missing the Fab 5

There are times when circumstances really won't allow certain things to happen. Like meeting the Fab 5 of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" for example. We haven't seen two of them the last time they were here. Now that they're complete and I have the chance to meet Jai, my personal fave, I just can't afford to miss work after only working 2 days last week. My sister, who is actually more of a fan than I am, has classes during the times their shows are scheduled and she can't skip them (of course)! It's just sad.

So for those lucky enough to get the chance to see and/or meet them, please share your pictures! Thanks! Here's their schedule:

20 July 2006 | Greenbelt 3 Park | 7 - 8 PM
21 July 2006 | Glorietta Activity Center | 4 - 5:30 PM
22 July 2006 | Alabang Town Center | 10 - 11 AM

Back to Normal

I can't believe I am back to my normal routine now. The past weekend zoomed past me and I needed time to catch my breath. Now, Im here resuming my usual daily activites and a part of me doesn't want to let go of that feeling the weekend has brought me. I mean, how often can you pretend to be a hobbit and a Hogwarts student in one day? More con pics here.

I've been feeling torn lately. I won't go into details because things are not final yet. But if I am given an offer I cannot refuse, I'm going to make a very hard decision and I pray to God I will make the right one.

One Big Happy Geeky Family

I still have conventionitis-- the "feeling" after a Sci-Fi/Fantasy convention. That's what is felt after being immersed in a mix of extreme exhuastion, natural high, strong bonds (of friendship), geeky encounters, out-of-this-world sights and many more. That's more than just the physical sickness I have right now. Technically, I belong in 3 fandoms-- The Philippine Tolkien Society, Pinoy Harry Potter and Star Wars Philippines. My level of activity though is not the same as for all three. This is the perfect time for me to be present in all my orgs' activities at one given time. Heehee.

I have been to all conventions and I think this was the best con I've been to. No, not just because TPTS won the best booth award or the NWA Amazing Race contest (wahoo!). No, not just also because I my caption won for the 2nd week (yehey!). It just seems like I've seen a lot of familiar faces, some I only see during the conventions, and got to know more people than the previous con and got to create a somehow familial kind of relationship with each other. We share the same interests and therefore, bond in a way that a niche is created and whoever shares the same passion can relate to it. There is a feeling of comfort and belongingness.

I notice that I smiled a lot and had more guts to talk to people, even strangers! I also don't normally write like this but like I said, I am still suffering from conventionitis. I don't think words can describe the fun we had. One day was not enough but it was awesome! I do hope the 5th one will be like this and more. Looking forward to it!

For the Love of Neil Gaiman

For the love of Neil Gaiman, I did volunteer for this event-- Unmasked: The First Philippine Graphic/Fiction Award. Some disappointments made me think that it was not really worth the sore feet, but still, it was a good experience. I am not a huge fan of comic books but I've seen the shortlisted entries and they were great. My personal fave was "Splat" and it did win second place and People's Choice Award. In the prose category, I have to admit I haven't read them but based on the excerpt reading, I got curious with "The God Equation". It did win first place (tied with "A Strange Map of Time") and I just downloaded it for reading later on.

Please visit the site to view the shortlisted entries. You may download it as well.

Amazing Weekend

I was sick Friday. Good thing was I didn't have to go to work. I was forcing myself to be better for Saturday. My volunteer shift for the 1st Philippine Graphic/Fiction Awards started at 4PM but my sis and I were already in the mall by lunch time. I made sure I've some of the shortlisted works just to give me an idea. I'm not going to go into details now since I need to rest for work tonight and I don't have the pictures uploaded yet. Yes, I have lots of pics to share, so watch out for them. Let's just say that I was tired, my feet were killing me and I was hungry that day. There were disappointments (oh yes!) and weird moments (imagine me seeing a classmate from Grade 3!) and pretty sights (literally). I wished the next day would be better.

We went home Saturday night at about 11PM. My mother was mad because we rarely spent the weekend at home. I just wish she and my father would give us some time and a chance for them to go to the convention so they'll know that we're not really doing anything bad. Being a sci-fi/fantasy fan is actually fun! Oh well, that wish wasn't granted and until now my mother is still harboring bad feelings towards me and my sis. At least we still had more (much more) fun yesterday. It was the 4th New Worlds Sci-Fi/Fantasy convetion and we went back to the Rockwell Tent as early as 8AM to fix our booth. Despite my sister's vow to help out in the Pinoy Harry Potter booth, she still ended up helping my main fandom, The Philippine Tolkien Society instead. I don't think she was sorry. We won best booth! Yay!

We saw a lot of celebrities (Michael V who posed in our Lothlorien booth, David Celdran who kept asking us about Hogwarts Philippines, Chris Cantada of Spongecola to name a few), a lot of friends we only knew before online (at least there's a face now, not just the nicks), more long lost friends (like a teacher from college and a supervisor from my previous job), a lot of photo/video ops, more pretty sightings (great costumes, friendly people behind those costumes and finally seeing our crushes from other fandoms! Ahahaha!) and shared a lot of funny, heartwarming moments with friends. I wish the con could be a 2 or 3-day event instead. Ok, I still don't have pictures but I'll be posting a new blog entry for that.

I still have a "geeky" hangover. I don't think this boring week at work would help when I'm so used to being on vacation leave. Oh well, wish me luck and do watch out for the pics. You'll realize that geeks/nerds do know how to party! :)

Pre-Birthday Bash

Before I spent my birthday at home with my family, I spent last weekend out of town for some bonding sessions with some friends. We had good, clean fun and I wish we do that more often. Probably the videoke plus ice cream made my throat sore, which eventually got me sick. I still have the sniffles and I hope the leave I have today will help me feel better for the hectic weekend ahead of me. I volunteered for the Gaiman event tomorrow and I'll be present the whole Sunday for the New Worlds event. But what the heck, it was well worth it!

Still got the sore throat, now with the cough and a little fever and I have to work tonight. The weather is as melancholy as I am. Got nothing to do.

You Are 1: The Reformer

You're a responsible person - with a clear sense of right and wrong.

High standards are important to you, and you do everything to meet them.

You are your own worst critic, feeling ashamed if you're not perfect.

You have the highest integrity, and people expect you to be fair.

Still got nothing to do:

Your Love Number is 1

You tend to be a stubborn lover, holding your ground in every argument
You take your time falling in love. You aren't the type to lose perspective.
You are loyal (to a fault), and you require the same loyalty in your sweetheart.
At your best, you are a wise and inspiring partner - who sticks around.

In fairness, these results are true. So, what's with me and the number 1? Hmm... Can numbers define who we really are?

At 26

I still feel the same. Nothing's changed. But July 10 was proof enough that a lot of people care for me and I'm thankful for that. The weekend was a blast. Spent it out of town with my friends from work. There's nothing like good company, stories, food, music, movies, lack of sleep and fresh air! (Pictures to follow.) Yesterday, my official birth date, was spent at home with my family and nursing a sore throat (videoke + ice cream?) and an aching body (monthly cramps). Great timing, huh? But that's fine, I'm still on leave and I'm gonna try to rest my overused vocal chords.

At 26, I wish I'm going to make better decisions in life, appreciate what I have and make the most of what life has given me without compromising my dreams.

Looking forward to another year. For everyone who took the time and effort to greet me...

My Gift

I received advance greetings from friends and I do appreciate them remembering me. You know who you are. Thank you!

My first birthday gift arrived today. I never expected that the pesky guy knocking on our gate was carrying an Amazon delivery package for me. Yes, for me! My heart was beating as I scanned the sticker outside and my mind was also busy guessing who sent this pretty heavy package for me. I kept mumbling "It's a book... it feels like a book... I can sense it's a book... darn! How the heck do I open this?!" I am normally a very patient person and I never thought I'd fumble just opening the package. Finally I did open it and saw the book I know I'll never get to buy here. I didn't open the book yet coz I know there's almost always a note. I read the name and I knew. Deep inside, I knew it was from you.

When minutes turn to days and years
When mountains fall, I'll still be here

(lyrics from Carrie Underwood's "Inside Your Heaven")

tired and sleepy but happy

Thank you very much! We're miles apart yet I value the friendship we've always shared. Call me selfish but you know what would be a better gift? Seeing YOU knocking on my gate. I would love to hang out with you again! Miss you!

I am happy to be a recipient of one of the best gifts in life-- the gift of friendship from people who have offered me their time, thoughts, smiles, hugs and a part of their lives. Thank you!

My Own Pace

Life is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think.*

That's probably the reason why my life is a contradiction-- a tragic comedy or a comical tragedy. Some say I think too much. Others say I feel too much. Maybe I was supposed to be that way just to even things out... or else I'd go crazy.

Age only slows down those who never had the courage to walk at their own pace.*

In a few days, I'll officially step into the age called "the late 20's". I might be placed in a different bracket altogether, usually the 26-30 bracket whenever I'd fill up forms, questionnaires, surveys, etc. (think "Sex and the City"). When I was a teenager, I used to see this age bracket as the optimum age to get married, have kids and "settle down". I thought by this time I would have done 50% of the things I wanted to do before I die. Now that I'm here, I realized it's much easier to dream than to make these dreams come true. That's fine. Since they say life begins at 40, I have a lot of time to prepare for that. So, I'm just gonna go with the flow and make the most out of what life brings me. Walk at my own pace. I guess where I am is where I'm supposed to be.

* quotes from Paulo Coelho's "The Zahir"

Super Gorgeous

I think that someone who discovered Brandon Routh bartending should be given a pat in the back. I'm not saying he's a great actor but he has potential. Let's cut him some slack since this is the first major role he played and I don't think he messed it up. He can still be the geeky Clark Kent and the swoon-worthy Superman/Kal-el.

This is going to be one biased post. I watched "Superman Returns" with my family late last night and my sister and I just gushed whenever his face graced the screen. I am lusting loving Brandon Routh! The plot is simple. Maybe too simple for the hard-core Superman fans who gave this movie a thumbs-down. There are no unexpected twists and no and-the-plot-thickens moment, but I have to say the special effects are awesome! Even the new Superman suit is a cool change. Kevin Spacey is one of my favorite underrated actors. Oh and did I mention Kate Bosworth is one lucky b*tch? On-screen she gets to kiss Superman and Cyclops (James Marsden who played Richard) and off-screen she gets to smooch Orlando Bloom, her real-life boyfriend. Some girls have all the luck!

Most people have watched this but for those who haven't, it's a fun family movie. Reminisce the past when you hear John Williams's "The Love Theme", which is actually a combination of "The Flying Sequence" (popularly known as "The Superman Theme") and the melody of the heartwarming "Can You Read My Mind?" sang by Margot Kidder. Is there gonna be another one after this? I hope so. I hope they keep the same actors. Brandon Routh can grace my screen anytime.

S Day

First Sunday of the month. Today is Superman Returns day although for most, if not all, Filipinos, boxing and non-boxing enthusiasts alike, today is Manny Pacquiao Day. As of the moment, the whole family, except my sister who is still asleep, is awaiting for the Pacquiao-Larios (of Mexico) fight.

Yesterday, I decided to attend a TPTS moot despite lack of sleep. Met with Ricky, Nina and Miao and hung out in Reitch's house to organize our thoughts on designing the Lothlorien booth for the NWA con. I never really put much thought in costumes coz I'm not keen on cosplaying. I love seeing and capturing cosplayers in photos though. I'd probably just wear a hobbit cloak when I'm in the TPTS booth and my Ravenclaw Hogwarts robe when I'm in the PHP booth. I've been missing a lot of happenings due to my work sched but I have filed for leave the day before the con and I hope to be more productive during that time.

For those who did not attend the moot, here's what you missed:

hobbit food : Miao's yummy tuna mushroom pasta

Murphy : Reitch's dog and a belly-rubbing addict

great hobbity company
