A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Reading the first book of made me feel like watching the first season of the series all over again, minus the sex scenes galore and more of the touching back-stories of the characters. There were lull moments, but there were also favorite chapters (which meant favorite characters as well). There were questions answered, but more questions created. Finishing it on a stormy afternoon did not add to the dramatic flair as I hoped, but only gave me the sense of urgency to read the next books. No rest for the weary eyes, I guess. =)
